FAQs

What’s considered an eye emergency?

Any sudden pain, injury, chemical exposure, or vision change should be treated as urgent. When in doubt, call us.

Do I go to the ER or call you first?

If symptoms are severe (heavy bleeding, major trauma, sudden total vision loss, or a deep cut), go to the ER or call 911. Otherwise, call us for same‑day urgent care.

Can you remove something stuck in my eye?

Often, yes. We can evaluate and safely remove superficial foreign bodies and treat the abrasion. If it’s deep, we’ll coordinate immediate specialty care.

Will my insurance cover an urgent visit?

Most urgent eye problems are billed to medical insurance. Coverage varies by plan; bring your card and we’ll verify benefits.

Should I take out my contacts?

Yes—remove your lenses if you can do so comfortably. Do not wear them again until you’ve been evaluated.

Can I drive after the visit?

We may dilate your eyes to check the back of the eye. Brightness and focus can be affected for a few hours. Consider arranging a ride.

How quickly can I be seen for an eye emergency?

We have same‑day slots for urgent visits. Call as early as possible.

Is sudden blurry vision an emergency?

Yes—sudden changes in vision should be evaluated right away.

What if I have a chemical splash in my eye?

Flush with clean water or saline for 15 minutes, then call us or 911 depending on severity.

Can pink eye wait?

Some forms are contagious and uncomfortable. Call the same day for guidance and treatment.
