MiSight® 1 Day Treatment in Honolulu
At Simply Eyes Hawaii, we are proud to offer MiSight® 1 day, the first and only FDA-approved soft contact lens proven to slow the progression of myopia (nearsightedness) in children ages 8–12 at the start of treatment. Myopia is increasing rapidly among children, and early treatment is essential to protecting lifelong sight. MiSight® gives young patients clear vision today while helping shield their eyes from future risks.
Dr. Sherry Wong and Dr. Tracie Inouchi are both trained in myopia control and experienced in fitting MiSight® 1 day lenses for children. If you’re concerned about your child’s worsening prescription, we’re here to help.
Why Myopia Control Matters
Myopia is more than blurry distance vision—it is a progressive and irreversible eye disease caused by the eye growing too long. As the eye elongates, the risk of serious eye problems later in life increases, including:
Because children’s eyes grow quickly, earlier treatment leads to better long-term outcomes.
What Is MiSight® 1 Day?
MiSight® 1 day is a daily disposable soft contact lens developed specifically for children. It is the only lens with FDA approval for slowing myopia progression in age-appropriate children.
✔ Proven to reduce myopia progression
Clinical studies show a 59% average reduction in myopia progression compared to single-vision lenses.
✔ Designed for kids ages 8–12 starting treatment
The FDA approval specifically covers children 8–12 years old at initiation, a period when myopia can worsen the fastest.
✔ Daily disposables = simple and hygienic
No solutions, no lens cleaning—just one fresh lens per day.
How MiSight® 1 Day Works (ActivControl® Technology)
MiSight® lenses have two specialized zones built into the lens:
1. Correction Zones
Provide clear vision for everyday activities such as reading, classroom work, and sports.
2. Treatment Zones
Create controlled myopic defocus, signaling the eye to slow down growth—protecting long-term vision.
This dual-action technology allows your child to see clearly today while helping prevent sight-threatening issues tomorrow.
Benefits for Children
✔ Slows eye growth & myopia progression
MiSight® lenses help prevent prescriptions from worsening rapidly.
✔ Children prefer them over glasses
Nearly 90% of age-appropriate children preferred MiSight® over their glasses in a 3-year study.
✔ Improved confidence & activity levels
Daily disposable lenses help children:
- Participate in sports
- Avoid broken or lost glasses
- Feel more confident in their appearance
✔ Ease of use—even for young kids
Studies show children as young as 8 can insert and remove their contact lenses independently.
Safety of MiSight®
Across six years of clinical monitoring, no serious contact-lens-related adverse events occurred. Daily disposables minimize infection risk and are considered one of the safest options for pediatric contact lens wear.

Frequently Asked Questions About MiSight® 1 Day
MiSight® is a specialty contact lens and coverage varies by plan. Some vision insurance plans include a contact lens allowance that can be applied toward MiSight®. We recommend calling us at (808) 949-2662 before your child’s appointment and we’ll check your specific benefits.
Regular contact lenses correct vision but do nothing to slow eye growth. MiSight® uses ActivControl® Technology with specialized treatment zones that simultaneously correct your child’s vision and send signals to slow the elongation of the eye — addressing the root cause of myopia progression.
he FDA approval covers children ages 8–12 at the start of treatment. However, myopia control is still beneficial for older children and teens whose prescriptions are still changing. Our doctors can discuss alternative myopia control options such as low-dose atropine or Essilor Stellest™ lenses for older patients. Learn more about myopia control →
Yes — daily disposable contact lenses are an excellent choice for active children. MiSight® provides clear, stable vision without the risk of broken glasses, and since they’re daily disposables there’s no worry about cleaning lenses after outdoor activities.
MiSight® works best with consistent daily wear — at least 10 hours per day, 6 days per week. Treatment is typically continued as long as myopia is progressing. Our doctors will monitor your child’s progress every 6 months and adjust the plan as needed.
We recommend a comprehensive eye exam between ages 3 and 5, and then annually as they grow. If you notice your child squinting, sitting close to screens, or struggling to see the board at school, schedule an exam sooner. Early detection gives us the best opportunity to intervene before myopia progresses significantly.
MiSight® is priced similarly to other premium daily contact lenses. CooperVision also offers a rebate with the purchase of an annual supply — ask our team about current rebate offers when you visit.
