Our Story
Simply Eyes Hawaii traces its roots to Kaimukī, where the late Dr. Lawrence Yamamoto first opened his optometry practice. He later joined two fellow optometrists in a group practice at Ala Moana Shopping Center before opening his own office in the Ala Moana Building in the 1980s.
In 1987, Dr. Daniel Yamamoto joined the practice, caring for generations of Honolulu patients and helping continue its longstanding tradition of personalized eye care.
Dr. Tracie Inouchi joined the practice in 2002, and in 2025 she and Dr. Sherry Wong established Simply Eyes Hawaii with a fresh vision for modern, patient-centered eye care. The practice relocated to its current home in the eleven50 building at 1150 S King St #201, near McKinley High School in Makiki, beginning a new chapter centered on compassionate service, clear communication, and lasting relationships with patients and families.
While the Simply Eyes Hawaii name is new, the practice’s roots in Honolulu go back over 40 years. Today, Simply Eyes Hawaii combines decades of clinical experience with a modern approach to comprehensive eye care. That commitment to thoughtful, personalized care continues to guide everything we do.
A Practice Rooted in the Community
Simply Eyes Hawaii is locally owned, not part of a chain. Some of our patients have been coming in since they were kids, and now bring their own children through the same doors.
